This blog is a little different than my previous blog, as this is functioning more as a personal journal of abstract thoughts and ideas instead of the daily stories and strong community I relied on in the past. I do really miss that community, but I’m just in a different stage in my life now, and some of the mentoring relationships that were formed there have been replaced by dear people that I see on a regular basis in real life. I suppose you could say that now I’m open to adding some new voices into the comments, as I try to write on a more regular basis, on a wider variety of topics. I’ve definitely come across some bloggers that I would love to get to know more and would really like to hear their opinions. But for now, I can’t promise that the vague-ness of many posts will go away.
One of my favorite all-purpose bloggers, Kevin Hendricks, wrote recently about the stages that his blog has gone through, and I thought one quote in particular really captured my sentiments for where I am currently as well as where I want to take this blog, as life takes me to new places.
“My writing style has also changed a lot in nine years. I used to write in a cryptic and free form style. If you didn’t know me and know what was going on in my life you’d usually have no idea what I was talking about. It was kind of annoying.
But if you can read between the lines you can figure out when big moments happened, like the beginning of the end of a three-year relationship, the beginnings of a new relationship…And sometimes I completely skip over big moments (I guess blogging isn’t everything) and talk about them after the fact, making inane comments like, “So far the coolest thing about being married is the ring.” Eventually I did give up the cryptic act and just played it straight.“
So, I guess you could say that this is going to be my journey from no one having any idea what I’m talking about to hopefully being able to play it straight one day.
great meeting you!! thanks for coming by my blog and for sharing a bit about you… church communications? wow – meet too!
